Peter Seidler

In Memoriam (1960–2023)

Peter co-founded Seidler Equity Partners, which was born from his vision to create long-term partnerships with business founders seeking capital and advice to help grow their businesses. Peter shaped the firm’s strategy and culture during his 30 years of leadership at SEP, which included service on the Investment Committee and Executive Committee. His passion for supporting exceptional entrepreneurs is shared by all SEP professionals.

In 2012, Peter led the purchase of the San Diego Padres and took a stewardship approach to improving both the baseball club and the local community. He brought together civic leaders, local businesses, and charitable groups to enact creative solutions to prevent and alleviate homelessness, in addition to supporting various children’s and medical charities. Peter was honored by numerous community groups, including Nice Guys of San Diego (2017 Nice Guy of the Year), the National Conflict Resolution Center (2018 Annual Peacemaker Award), and the San Diego Union Tribune (2022 San Diegan of the Year).

Peter was a kind, intelligent, and generous man who was devoted to his family and always put others first. He embodied a unique combination of optimism, spirituality, and toughness. His integrity, humility, and loving spirit will endure.
